Rare and unrecorded cards. They were issued by the THREE CROW EXTRACTS company in the United States of America to advertise their product. Based on the people featured in this series and the dates on the horse cards in this series (two dated at 1886), I believe that these cards were issued in either 1886 or 1887. I have found no reference to these cards in any reference guide (neither Burdick's American Card Catalogue or the WTI, or any of the volumes of Benjamin's Sports Americana Price guide to Non-Sports Cards or the Non Sports Bible). The front of the card features a lithograph of a charcoal portrait of the featured nineteenth century celebrity, set on a sepia colored background. They are very similar graphically to the Goodwin N167 Old Judge Tobacco Cards. The Back features advertising for the extracts. I have no idea how many cards were in the series but I have personally seen 34 different cards. The Card measures 2 5/16 inches by 1 1/2 inches approximately.
