Issued by the WALLACE Company of New York as a advertising premium with their brands of SA YO and TOM THUMB JuJubes and candy. The series is designated as E203 in Burdick's American Card Catalogue. Unfortunately Burdick does not provide a date of issue or a lot of information about the different variations of the cards. I have always speculated that they must have been issued in the late 1890's or early 1900's based largely on the fact that the celebrities featured in this series are also features in many photographic tobacco card sets that were issued around the late 1800's as well. Burdick list the series as being issued in strips of three cards, and also in strips of four cards. However Mr. Burdick does not mention that there are at least 2 variations of the 3 strip card. A version that has a yellow front and list the entire series as being of 20 strips of 3 on the back, and another variation which has a green color front and list the entire series as being of 15 strips of three on the back.

The Card measures 2 11/16 inches by just under 1 3/8 inches approximately.
