Issued as Premium by the J & P Coats Company. In the United States to advertise their J&P Coats BEST SIX CORD THREAD & SPOOL COTTON for Hand and Sewing Machines. This series has been designated as series H654 in Burdick's American Card Catalog. Burdick claims that there were 4 cards in the series observed at the time he wrote his ACC. Unfortunately Burdick does not provide a date of issue for the series. However J&P Coats issued a similar series featuring the Uniforms of the U.S. Army (H606) in 1893 so I imagine that these were issued around a similar time. The front of each card shows an absolutely stunning full color military scene, featuring the different Uniforms of the BRITISH Army. The detail of the Uniforms on the front is stunning. The back of the card features advertising for the company. The card measures 4 3/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches approximately.
