Issued in Canada by the Moirs Limited Company of Halifax Canada as an insert premium in their brands of Chocolates . They are listed as series DC8 in Burdick's American Card Catalogue (although I found this designation odd as this is clearly a chocolate issue and the DC designation in the ACC was for Canadian Bread and Bakery issues). Unfortunately I have not been able to find an exact date of issue of this series, but I speculate that they were issued sometime in the 1920's or 30's issue as Moirs issued others sets during that era (possibly earlier though). The front of each card features an image of the mail being delivered in the featured country, as well as an illustration of a stamp from that country. The same images were used by several different bread and candy issued series of cards in the U.S. and also by the Imperial Tobacco Company of Canada set as well issued in the 1910's. The back indicates that there were 48 cards in the series and that one was inserted in each box of chocolates. It also instructs the collector to paste the cards in a scrap book once the set had been collected. I imagine this partially explains the scarceness of these cards. I assume many were pasted into scrapbooks and ended up getting destroyed this way. The card is printed on a paper stock rather than a card, and is layed out in the manner of a poster stamp, although the backs did not have any adhesive to them as poster stamps do. The Card measures 3 inches by 2 inches approximately.
