A set of 36 WONDER SHIPS OF TODAY Bread cards issued by the KRUG’S FINE BAKERY PRODUCTS COMPANY of Brooklyn, Long Island, and Westchester New York. The series is listed in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue as series D90, Burdick does not provide a date for this series but I believe it to have been issued sometime between 1938 and 1940. I came to this conclusion dues to the fact the latest date of construction of the ships listed is 1938 and the album describes the S.S. America as being "scheduled for service commencing in the early months of 1940". Each card features a beautifully illustrated Image of the ship done by the artist Fred J. Hoertz. Although I call these cards they are actually printed on paper stock rather than cardboard. The album had a matching space for the ship to be pasted. The child was supposed to match the ship on the card with the space in the album designated for it, and then paste the card into that space in the album. The album has a fairly detailed description of each of the ships providing such information as construction date, speed, weights and measurements and the routes it ran. There are 8 pages in the album with spaces for cards on the front and back of each. There is also a front and back cover. Each Card measures 3 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches approximately. The album measures 9 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches.
